We inspire your guests to dance and have fun but we are not obnoxious, cheesy or annoying about it. Everything about the way DJ Peter uses the microphone is professional and classy. DJ Peter does not talk on the microphone unnecessarly, The people come to dance and have a good time , not to hear the DJ talk all night.
Q: Do we pick the music for our event?
That's entirely up to you! Providing your favorite music choices is a common occurance. Whether you want to pick just a few songs, all of the songs, or none of the songs, you can be sure DJ Peter will provide the very best services according to your wishes. We have found however that if the client chooses too many songs that must be played then it turns DJ Peter into a jukebox and not a DJ. The reason of hiring a DJ is to read the crowd and see what they enjoy then play music that suits theat crowd on that day at your wedding.
Q: Can we bring our own music?
Yes, if you have some specialty or ethnic music you want, you are welcome to provide whatever you like for DJ Peter to play. DJ Peter does not accept tips for a service he has been contraced to do and paid for. DJ Peter will also not accept tips from your guests to play songs!
Q: What does DJ Peter Drink
DJ Peter drinks soft drinks or water at the functions. It is a place of work and he is in control of the party. Drinking liquor would not be suitable. DJ Peter also has to pack up afterwards and drive safely home with hundreds of thousands of Rands of equipment so it would not be wise to drink liquor.
Q: Does DJ Peter bring an assistant
DJ Peter sets up everything himself again ensuring the incident free evening and also then knows how everything was setup. An example of the benefit would be if they wanted to move tables around to accomodate a larger dancefloor, DJ Peter would know where all his cables were laid. The benefit to the client would be the cost saving on catering
More and more, couples are choosing to have their DJ service also provide their ceremony music. The costs of having a seperate band playing at the ceremony can just get a bit high. If your ceremony and reception are at the same location then we can provide this service to you within the time frame you book the service for at NO extra cost. If the system needs to be moved from one location to another on the same premise, we do have no additional charge for this. If you are interested in this service, but your ceremony is at a different location, or you would like additional microphones included, we can still provide this service to you for a very reasonable price

When The Bride And Groom Enter The Reception...
Normally the MC will do the housekeeping rules before the Bride and Groom enter (ie where the restroom is, where people can smoke, what type of bar service.)
Traditionally, the MC would announce you in by your full, married name with your entire wedding party following immediately behind you. In most cases, The Bride and Groom choose to have the entire wedding party introduced into the reception. Make your wedding party aware that they should not filter into the reception prior to you arriving because it makes it difficult to find and reorganize them for your grand entrance. Your MC DJ will then announce each wedding party-couple individually into your reception with the Bride and Groom being introduced last. If you would like, you can also include Ushers, Flower Girls, Ring Bearer, Junior Bridesmaids, and Parents into the introductions.
The Cutting Of The Cake...
You can cut your cake before or after dinner but you should check with your banquet facility and/or caterer about the best timing for this accordingly. If you plan to serve your cake for desert then it is usually best to cut it prior to dinner, as some cakes take quite a while to slice and prepare. If you are planning to have your cake wrapped for your guests to take home, then it does not matter whether you cut it before or after dinner. Either way, you should check with your caterer first before deciding.
It is a good idea to get your champagne ready and poured about 5 minutes prior to the speeches starting. Your MC will quiet the crowd and read out the letters from people who could not make it, then formally introduce the speakers. It is not uncommon for The Maid/Matron of Honor to also propose a toast. In most cases, The Bride and/or Groom's parents also propose a toast. It is etiquette for The Best Man to be last , followed by the Groom and sometimes the Bride. If you are going to have a prayer before dinner this should always be last after any and all toasts.
We have found that a majority of weddings have the starters first which is then followed by a few of the speeches
The Bridal/First Dance...
The Bridal/First Dance should be done approximately 5-10 minutes after the speeches have been completed. Traditionally, you would dance to the song of your choice and shortly thereafter, (approximately 1-2 minutes) your wedding party would join you to conclude your dance. More often today, Bride's and Groom's have choosen to dance to their entire bridal song by themselves, and have a second song played for the wedding party. In this case, The Wedding Party Dance will immediately follow The Bridal Dance and includes the Bride, Groom and their entire wedding party.
The Father/Daughter Dance...
The Father/Daughter Dance is done immediately following The Wedding Party Dance. This is where The Bride dances with her father to the song of their choice. Traditionally, "Daddy's Little Girl" had been the favorite, however; over the years other selections have become much more popular and rarely is this song used anymore. Occasionally, and only in the case of a deceased father, we have seen brides dance with their grandfather for this dance. We have seen some brides choose the song “Daddy’s Hands” by Holly Dunn, and have even seen it suggested on other DJ’s web sites. This song is in reference to a deceased father and should only be used in a fitting and appropriate circumstance. view most requested songs (link opens in a new window)
The Throwing of The Bouquet And Garter...
The bouquet is thrown first to the single ladies. Second, the garter is removed from the leg of the bride, by the groom, and then thrown to the single gentlemen. Traditionally, the person who catches the bouquet, and the person who catches the garter, do the reverse, that is, the gentleman who catches the garter puts it on the leg of the lady who catches the bouquet. In our experience, we see this done less and less. As to when this should be done, there are 2 options; Some brides choose to do this immediately after the last special dance song so they can be done with all the formalities and then just enjoy their party. Also, this is the last of the formal pictures to be taken, so if you are on a tight time limit with your photographer, this might be a good option for you. In most cases, the bride & groom prefer to wait 30-45 minutes into the general dancing before doing the bouquet & garter.
Once you break the Main dancing again. Make sure that you finish all the outstanding formalities ie Cutting Cake, Boquet and garter.
Depending on the guests and the Couple we normally like to do a tunner about 30 minutes before the end of the reception so that the guests can wish them well. We have noticed that this is more and more a thing of the past. Most weddings these days the Bride and Groom leave last. They have paid for the party and they want to enjoy it!!
